As always at Maine Beer Company in Freeport, Maine, there is a story behind the beer. Titus was a bold silverback gorilla that led with its heart. The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International studies and protects these magnificent animals in the Virunga Mountains in Rwanda, and the Maine Beer Company proudly supports their efforts.
This 7.5% ABV beer is the brewery’s take on an American robust porter. Made with American two-row, Caramel 40L, Caramel 80L, Munich 10L, chocolate, roasted wheat, and flaked oats malts, it is hopped with Centennial and Columbus for complexity and good balance. It is dark, thick, chewy, chocolaty, and generously hopped. This is an amazing giant silverback of a beer, appropriately named.
